Starting in June 2022, all academic units are expected to make current individual workload assignments available via a secure site annually. These Guidelines provide instructions to units on how this should be done.
Agreement on Merit (PTR/5%) for the 2021-22 Academic Year (PDAD&C #30) (March 11, 2022)
As part of the extension of the COVID LOU, the University and UTFA have agreed to the basis on which merit (PTR/5%) for the 2021-22 assessment period will be paid. This memo contains important information concerning the administration of the merit (PTR/5%) scheme.
Please see details concerning salary increases for faculty members and librarians agreed to as part of an agreement reached by the University and the University of Toronto Faculty Association concerning salary, benefits, and workload covering the period July 1, 2020 to June 30, 2023. This agreement includes across-the-board (ATB) increases retroactive to July 1, 2020 and July 1, 2021. It also includes agreement that PTR/5% merit for the 2021-22 assessment period will be paid on July 1, 2022.
In light of the continued public health concerns associated with the pandemic, the University and the University of Toronto Faculty Association (UTFA) have agreed to a modification of the Tenure Committee meeting protocols that will allow Tenure Committees to convene virtually during 2021-22 when required due to applicable public health guidelines, or when a decision to convene virtually has been made by the Tenure Committee Chair in conversation with Committee members.
Update on Merit (PTR/5%) for the 2020-21 Academic Year (PDAD&C #16) (August 20, 2021)
The University and UTFA have agreed that July 1, 2021 PTR will be paid to faculty and librarians in the October 2021 pay run. This memo outlines the provisions of the agreement and provides instructions for determining PTR payments and issuing salary letters.
Workload Considerations During COVID-19 (PDAD&C #14) (August 13, 2021)
The COVID-19 pandemic and related public health guidance and provincial legislation have had a significant impact on the responsibilities, workload, and professional activities of many faculty members and librarians. This memo reiterates the principles and considerations that should guide the assignment of workload in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic and provides highlights of an agreement with UTFA with respect to COVID-19 related workloads in the 2020-21 academic year.
Course Evaluation Data for Academic Review Processes: COVID-19 (PDAD&C #13) (August 13, 2021)
This memo provides information about an agreement between the University and UTFA concerning two matters relating to the use of course evaluations as part of the COVID-19 specific Letter of Understanding (COVID LOU).
COVID-19 Expense Reimbursement Fund (PDAD&C #12) (August 13, 2021)
Following the University’s agreement with UTFA on a COVID-19 specific Letter of Understanding, we are announcing the establishment of the COVID-19 Expense Reimbursement Fund (the “CERF”) to reimburse faculty members and librarians for expenses incurred by them related to the performance of undergraduate and graduate teaching and, in the case of librarians, professional practice remotely due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
This memo clarifies that:
- Faculty and graduate students may register for a free sub-account at www.facultydiversity.org/institutions/utoronto
- The Provost’s Office will contribute 50% of the cost associated with the NCFDD’s Faculty Success Program and with the Post-Tenure Pathfinders programs provided that the home unit or Dean’s Office contributes the remainder of the funds.
