Bias in the Context of Academic Reviews for AAAs, Assessors, and Members of Committees – Q&A and Case Study Workshop (Online)

This live, interactive Q&A is intended for Provostial, SGS, and Decanal assessors; members of any committee that involves peer assessment (e.g., search, PTR, tenure, continuing status, promotion); as well as Deans, Vice and Associate Deans, Principals, Chairs and Directors. Please note that we are unable to accommodate staff, students, post-docs, sessional lecturers or clinicians at this session.
Pre-work: Faculty members who are serving on an upcoming committee are encouraged to review: 1) the recording of the 2022 workshop and 2) the Unconscious Bias Modules 1 & 2 and Module 3 through SuccessFactors before attending this workshop.
The goals the pre-work & this Q&A session is to:
- Provide you with the tools to identify bias
- Introduce you to some practical strategies to help you interrupt bias in the moment
- Discuss what a unit might consider/discuss/put in place to help mitigate bias in academic review processes and assessments
