Provostial Funding for the NCFDD Faculty Success Program and the Post-Tenure Pathfinders Program, 2024-25 (May 23, 2024)
The Provost’s Office will continue to contribute 50% of the cost associated with the NCFDD’s Faculty Success Program and the Post-Tenure Pathfinder’s Program, provided that the home unit or Dean’s Office contributes the remainder of the funds. A one-year pilot of a new reimbursement process for the Faculty Success Program will be implemented on July 1, 2024. The reimbursement process for the Post-Tenure Pathfinders Program remains unchanged.
Update on Merit (PTR/5%) for the 2023-24 Academic Year (PDAD&C #42) (May 17, 2024)
Follow-up to the announcement that the University and UTFA have reached agreement that July 1, 2024 PTR will be paid to faculty and librarians in the July 2024 monthly pay run. Both the PTR and 5% merit awards are based on the performance assessment for the 2023-24 year.
Agreement Regarding July 1, 2024 Progress Through the Ranks (PTR) – Communications for Academic Administrators (May 10, 2024)
The University Administration and the University of Toronto Faculty Association (UTFA) have reached agreement for the payment of July 1, 2024 PTR (for the 2023-2024 assessment period), which will allow for payment as part of the July 2024 monthly pay.
Implementation of Changes to the University of Toronto Workload Policy and Procedures for Faculty and Librarians (WLPP) (PDAD&C #32) (March 28, 2024)
This memo details the implementation of the changes to the University of Toronto Workload Policy and Procedures for Faculty and Librarians (WLPP) as awarded by Arbitrator Eli Gedalof in September 2023.
Reminder – Upcoming Deadline to Submit Notice of Intention to Retire for Faculty (PDAD&C #31) (March 28, 2024)
This is a formal notice that under the customary process, faculty members who wish to retire on June 30, 2025 or enter the phased retirement program must give notice of their intention by June 30, 2024.
Policies for Librarians – Revisions Approved (December 20, 2023)
We are very pleased to be able to share that both the Governing Council of the University of Toronto and the University of Toronto Faculty Association Council have both ratified the Policies for Librarians agreements. As previously shared on May 26, 2023, these substantive changes are the product of more than five years of negotiations between the parties. The policy changes will come into effect on January 1, 2024.
Implementation of Reference Check Process to Discourage “Passing the Harasser” (PDAD&C #17) (November 10, 2023)
This memo follows up on PDAD&C #20 regarding the University’s initiative to discourage “passing the harasser.”
Modification to Tenure Committee Meeting Protocols for Academic Year 2023-2024 (PDAD&C #15) (November 10, 2023)
The University and the University of Toronto Faculty Association have agreed that tenure committees may continue to convene virtually, and that the decision about whether or not to hold a Tenure Committee meeting in person or virtually is a decision that should be made by the Tenure Committee Chair in conversation with Committee members.
Further to the announcement made on September 8, 2023, this memo contains details concerning the implementation of salary increases for faculty members and librarians awarded in an interest arbitration award by Arbitrator Eli Gedalof for the period July 1, 2022 to June 30, 2023.
Update to Conflict-of-Interest Guideline for Faculty Members and Librarians (PDAD&C #7) (September 15, 2023)
The revisions to the Guideline for Faculty Members and Librarians include new language acknowledging the impact of power dynamics on voluntary consent, and the revisions formalize and strengthen our existing practices by stating unequivocally that the University of Toronto prohibits sexual or intimate relationships between a faculty member or librarian and a student whom they supervise, grade the work of, mentor or have other decision-making power over such as admissions and awards. It also states that violations will result in discipline.
Arbitrator Eli Gedalof has issued his interest arbitration award with respect to outstanding issues concerning salary, benefits, and workload between the University and the University of Toronto Faculty Association (UTFA) for the period July 1, 2022 to June 30, 2023.
